It was produced by the Los Angeles–based workshop Mixografia using a proprietary process for printing high-relief works they first developed in the 1970s. Printing on wet, handmade paper yields the mottled surface evocative of a weathered sign, and hand-cut openings and “bullet holes” accentuate the realistic effects.
