In partnership with Bernardaud, Jeff Koons has created a limited-edition version of his nearly thirteen-foot-tall sculpture Balloon Monkey (2004–11), whose mirror-polished stainless-steel finish has here been simulated in highly reflective orange glazed porcelain. This sculpture replicates the form of a twisted balloon animal in the shape of a monkey, celebrating the joy and innocence of childhood.
The monkey is a recurring motif in Koons’s oeuvre, appearing in his 1988 life-size sculpture of Michael Jackson and Bubbles and in the Hulk Elvis series.
